APxpress is a trim supplier that can make all kinds of trims, from labels & hangtags to all kinds of buttons. They make our woven labels, entirely made from recycled polyester. You can find these labels for instance in the waistband of our jeans and as a folded label over the hem of our tops.

In 1980 APxpress was founded in the United Kingdom to supply to the at that time thriving fashion industry. To keep our trim suppliers as local as possible, we make use of their Turkey facility. Their sustainable mindset shows for instance in the fact that all their facilities are powered by 100% renewable sources.

Bossa is one of our fabric supplier in Adana, established in 1951. They’re one of the best mills in Turkey. Bossa only uses cotton that is better made, of which 10% is organic – what we use – and the other 90% Better Cotton (BCI).

Since 2018 Bossa is a no waste facility, reusing all waste streams into new fabrics. They have extensive environmental, energy and social They are a truly transparent company, reporting about sustainability goals, standards and social projects thoroughly on their website. As they state themselves:

Since 2016 Kuyichi has committed to offer more vegan products. The biggest change for us was switching from a leather patch to a vegan material. We needed  a company who could produce an animal-free replacement. This way Cadica became our jacron – a washable paper – supplier.

Cadica has a high standerd on basic employment principles and rights. They create plenty of scope for women, support local initiatives and humanitarian associations. The jacron patch is made from recycled and FSC certified paper. We’re slowly changing towards another kind of vegan patch in the coming months.

Coats is making yarns for over 250 years now and the worlds leading industrial threads supplier. Almost every bit of thread you find in our styles comes from them. They’re constantly working on lowering their environmental impact by looking at waste, water and energy-use during their manufacturing and packaging processes. They report annually about the progress they make. Coats is also a member of the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals Programme.

Dinateks is a manufacturer of denim and non-denim garments, established in 1990. Dinateks’s main factory, is located in the region Tekirdag, 135km west from Istanbul. Another sewing factories is located in Bulgaria, but the production for Kuyichi takes place in Tekirdag. This factory has a sewing department and an in-house laundry, with sustainable laser and ozone machinery, to wash and finish the garments. They have a good ISO 14001 certified wastewater treatment system in place which recycles and cleans the water they use.

Dinateks is a long time partner of Kuyichi, producing for us since 2008. We visit them on a regular basis during our Turkey visits.

Egedeniz is our new tops supplier, their first production was for our AW2018 collection. They were the first GOTS certified organic textile company in Turkey. Besides they also take an active role in helping Syrian refugees by giving them sewing machine training.

This textile company started in the early 1900’s, and soon became a leading figure in organic production, always being open for innovations and emphasizing the well-being of their employees and the environment. Egemen washes all denim by SARP jeans. As a longtime partner of SARP, they are audited under GOTS together. They’ve jointly worked to improve the laundry, by implementing innovative machinery and reducing the environmental impact on their washes.

As a Jeanologia laundry they can measure all their washes with the Environmental Impact Measurement (EIM). This gives us insights in all the steps of the washing process and the amounts of water, energy, kind of chemicals and the worker impact. With this tool we can work together to lower the environmental impact of the laundry process.

Erius is our supplier closest to home in Portugal, situated close to Porto. They make GOTS certified Tees and sweaters made from organic cotton that are of beautiful quality. Also named after a god, Eros – Greek god of love, we feel a strong connection to them. 

On an annual basis Erius is audited by Sedex as well as BSCI. Besides they have an environmental management system that is certified with ISO 14001, proof of good environmental practices as well. On top of it all, Erius has a feminine owner, Cristina, something that you don’t see that often.

We strive to use more and more (post-consumer) recycled fibres in our pure goods. To make old discarded and worn-out denims into new regenerated jeans, you need to shred them into small pieces until the garments have turned back to fibres again.

To make Post-Consumer Recycled Denim (PCRD) you need knowledgeable partners. Gama is our shredding partner and the largest regenerative yarn producer of Turkey. Most of these PCRD fibres come from discarded Turkish denim, but Gama also shreds the Dutch denim we collect. Besides, they’re specialised in recycling old PET-bottles into new recycled polyester fibres.

They’re located close to and are a long-time partner of Bossa, one of our Turkish denim mills that supplies us with PCRD fabrics. On their website you can see how much old garment & PET-bottles they have turned into fibres this day, this month and this year!

Kilim Denim is one of our fabric suppliers. It was founded in 1953 and has been making fabrics for over 60 years. They’ve always supplied us with fabrics made with GOTS certified cotton, but are now innovating more in a sustainable way.

Being part of the Alliance for Responsible Denim, they started to offer fabrics with post-consumer recycled denim fibres. Also in their dyeing and finishing processes they are innovating. Using no chemical finishes and reducing the amount of water and sulfide salt used in their indigo dyeing processes.

With the help of managing systems they’ve reduced their energy (40%), steam and water (65%) and fuel (70%) use since 2015. The land that surrounds their factory is turned into fertile ground and cultivates fruits and vegetables, used for their employee meals. Kilim will also switch to solar power over the course of 2019. Kilim constantly keeps setting new sustainable goals and achieving them.

The leather used for our belts comes from Montana, a tanner in Tuscany. Montana is a family-owned company with over 20 years of experience in vegetable tanning. Being member of the Leather Working Group this tanner is audited on social and environmental topics, such as chemicals (conform ZDHC), energy use, (waste)water, traceability and housekeeping.

Montana is also part of the ‘Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale’ together with 20 other Tuscany tanneries. Also known as the ‘Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium’ in English. Since 1994, these tanneries committed to upholding the heritage of genuine Italian leather, Vachetta, produced following the traditional methods for vegetable tanning.

Since 2016 we’ve used jacron – a washable paper – patches on the back of our jeans. But we kept searching for an even better substitute. Until we found the Viridis patch at Panama trimmings. These green PU patches are made from 48% corn polyols, 26% cotton and normal PU – with no impact on the food chain.

In 2019 they made a bold statement with the slogan: ‘Stop fucking the planet’. And they practice what they preach. The roof of their facility is stacked with solar panels, completely covering their energy demand. Besides, they offer a wide range of more sustainable patches and other products, for instance made from recycled, vegan and biobased materials.

SARP is a factory founded in 1983 and located in the south of Turkey. They have been a sustainable denim manufacturer for over 30 years now and are strongly committed to making sustainability more than just a trend. Their goal is to solely produce sustainable items. Since 2018 they updated the linked laundry that can make beautiful & sustainable washes, measured by the Environmental Impact Measurement (EIM) score of Jeanologia. For this they use sustainable laser, ozone and other innovative techniques that save a lot of water and chemicals.

The first Kuyichi denim by their hand was launched in stores March 2018. They are GOTS certified and have been audited by Fair Wear Foundation. We visit SARP regularly during our Turkey visits.

Since 2018 Seyfeli is one of our tops suppliers situated in Izmir. They were founded in 1997 as a children tops factory and expended their business to Tees for all ages. Since 2002 they started with organic production, making them an expert in this area. Their first KUYICHI production were, amongst others, our ACT Tees.

Seyfeli had an active role in the Aegean Apparel Industry Association and Aegean Exporter Association in the development of the organic production in Turkey. We do love our vegan products! However, we can always appreciate the durability of a good leather belt. Sun Belts Europe is our partner making these quality belts, located close to Europe in the North of Morocco, Tanger. They are committed to use the hides to the fullest, by minimising their waste and recycling the left-overs whenever possible.

Sun Belts Europe is regularly audited by BSCI. They only use European leather that meet the requirements of CAT1. Even all the buckles and other trims are produced in Europe, as are the – Italian made – buckles we use for our belts.

Van Zon Mode is our intermediate for our belts. They have a profound knowledge about leather goods and are partially owner of Sun Belts Europe and visit them regularly.

In our quest to move production of trims more locally, we found Vintage Trimming. They make different kinds of trims, such as patches, hangtags and woven labels. Over the last couple of years they’ve expended their sustainable offer, mostly focused on bringing more recycled options. Vintage Trimmings also continuously works on improving the efficiency and reducing the wast streams of their production. Besides, they make use of solar energy for their facility.

For Kuyichi, all the paper hangtags and overriders for our Turkish products come from their hand. All our hangtags & overriders are made from recycled paper, which means that they have a lower environmental impact.

YKK is the famous zipper supplier. If there is a zipper in your clothing there is a big chance YKK made it. In Kuyichi denim you can both find YKK zips and metal buttons and rivets. YKK has a beautiful philosophy: ‘No one prospers without rendering benefit to others’, referred to by them as the Cycle of Goodness.

To transform this philosophy into action they have set up guidelines and strict policies. YKK has policies for different subjects, such as conflict materials, wastewater treatment and recycling. They measures their environmental and social impact with the Higg Index. They are constantly innovating and implementing new technologies like fast dying processes and the development of biodegradable products.

Zhejiang Ishii Fuxing Knitwear is located in the Eastern part of China in Hangzhou, close to Shanghai. They started making knitwear in 1990 and have been specialised in knits ever since. Their first production for Kuyichi were the rainbow knits for the Antoine Peters collection, launched in 2018. With their beautiful yarn qualities and knits they make lasting favourites. 

Zhejiang Ishii Fuxing Knitwear is being monitored by the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), an organisation for transparant and improved working conditions. The facility is GOTS certified and regularly visited by Fully Fashion, our knitwear specialist partner in these productions. Fully Fashion has also signed the Dutch Agreement on Garments and Textiles and they do their due diligence accordingly
